august moon 31

Her fecund bloom all blowsy, overblown.
Her best has passed, her glory trailing,
Her day is done.
And in the dusty air
The smell of still distant sea mists
And summers ending.

august moon 29

suddenly awareness manifests
it is not within
nor without
and it is both
and it is neither
and there are no boundaries
and beyond this horizon
there is no horizon

the veil falls whisperingly
like mist
like smoke

Kitten Incursion.

Looking up, I see the cat stalking the hallway, his tail fat and low with disapproval , his grumpy old man ears snapping with disgust.

august moon 8

Yellow oily sky
Slick with heat
Pressing down like iron
Upon a cowering silent sea
The breathless moment suspended

Before the tearing and the ripping
The beating and the breaking
The jagged light
The bellowing wind
And the ominous taste of metal in the air

like two beached fish
browned on a very hot grill
too hot  too tired
to kill that one fly
you know

that one fly

inhaling the mouthwatering perfume
the erotic promise of teeth nipping sweet flesh

that clothe the tongue
and close the eyes
and steal the breath

august moon 2

Under the fecund green canopy bearing ripening fruit,
the sudden dry whisper of a withered and falling leaf
acknowledges that death, like life, is always present.

the bottomless depth of burning sky
